Victims Assist QLD (VAQ) Free Counselling Support
As a Trauma Informed practice, Luminous Path provides trauma centred counselling to Victims of crime committed in Queensland including (But not limited to) various forms of assault, physical & emotional abuse, Domestic and Family Violence as well as other incidents of crime across Queensland.
If you already have a VAQ approved application number, nominate Luminous Path as your preferred service provider and we will invoice VAQ directly - No upfront costs.
What is Victim Assist QLD?
Victim Assist Queensland (VAQ) is a Queensland Government service that assists victims of violent crime; either primary victims, witnesses, and family members attempt to recover by providing financial assistance, referrals to support services, and access to information. This includes assistance of expenses such as Counselling, Medical treatment, Safety security, and Emergency relocation. More information can be found on the VAQ Website.
How to Apply for VAQ Financial Assistance?
- Applications must typically be made within 3 years of the crime, or by age 21 for child victims.
- Must Report the Crime to the Police - Retain Police Reference Number
- Provide Evidence - Include details of the violence, injuries, and supporting documentation.
- Submit a Financial Assistance Application Form online via the QLD Government Website
If you have been impacted by crime while in QLD and are looking to make an application to VAQ, Luminous Path may also be able to assist with the Special primary victim report to support the application of assessment for a Financial Assistance claim through Victim Assist. The crime must be reported to the police and you must obtain the Police reference number. Comprehensive Assessment is at the cost of the client and may be reimbursed by VAQ - Upfront costs involved.

What is Victims of Crime Assistance (VIC)?
Victims of Crime Assistance VIC is a Victorian Government initiative providing support, information, and financial assistance to people affected by violent crime committed within the state of Victoria. More information can be found on the Victims of Crime (VIC) Website.
Luminous Path provides services online via Telehealth - So wherever you are, you are welcome to access the service through online delivery or telephone.
